PNLG annual forum agrees new plan
The PEMSEA Network of Local Governments (PNLG) for Sustainable Coastal Development passed a new nine-year plan (2022-2030) at its annual forum held on Dec 1.
The forum was held at offline venues in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province and Preah Sihanouk Province in southwest Cambodia, with people also attending online.
Over 100 participants from 30 PNLG members located in nine countries – China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Timor Leste, and Vietnam – attended the conference.
An election for officials was held during the forum. Officials from Danang City, central Vietnam, and Tangerang Regency, west Indonesia's Banten province were elected as the new PNLG chairman and vice-chairman respectively.
Busan city – located in southeast South Korea – joined as a new member, meaning that there are now 52 government members and three associate ones.
In addition, Tangerang Regency was announced as the host city of 2022's annual forum.
This year's forum was aimed at promoting the exchange of experience and information among members.
