Xiamen, an example of harmonious co-existence between man and nature
Over the past 36 years, Xiamen has always pursued the harmonious coexistence between man and the sea and placed equal importance on the conservation and sustainable development of marine ecology, setting an example of contributing to high-quality development through high-level ecological restoration, Zeng Dongsheng, Party secretary and director-general of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development, said in an interview with Xiamen Daily.
The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development has recently organized all Party members and cadres to study Chinese central media’s extensive coverage of how Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization guides Xiamen’s green shift.
The participants said the reports were inspiring and enlightening. They feel their responsibility and believed that the national influence would be an important opportunity for them to advance high-quality marine development.
This year Xiamen will continue to strengthen marine ecological protection, carry out fish release program, advance mangrove restoration, reinforce marine law enforcement, empower the green transition of marine industries, and deepen blue partnership, creating a bright future of harmonious co-existence between man and Nature.
In the spirit of opening up and seeking win-win progress through cooperation, the coastal city will keep on making the best use of the blue card of the World Ocean Week in Xiamen, mobilizing overseas Chinese, international organizations and other resources to promote the international exchanges and cooperation between marine industries and investors as well as the “bringing in” and “going global”of sea-related enterprises.
In addition, the city will ensure the success of the 2024 East Asian Seas Congress, giving full play to Xiamen-based international platforms including PNLG Secretariat, Xiamen Marine International Cooperation Center, BRICS Marine Sustainable Development Research Center, and APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center to create new opportunities for marine international cooperation.
