China and Indonesia jointly promote cooperation on marine ecology
At the invitation of the Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources, China (TIO), the Research Center for Oceanography of the Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (RCO-BRIN) visited Xiamen, East China's Fujian province from Jan 10 to 11, 2024.
TIO and RCO-BRIN signed an agreement on research cooperation on coastal ecosystem health and ecological connectivity under anthropogenic pressure. The cooperative agreement lays a solid foundation for China and Indonesia to deepen practical cooperation in next three years in marine scientific research, marine environmental protection, and other areas.
After the signing ceremony, both parties attended a workshop in which they held detailed discussions on this year's joint research program, research permit application, material transfer agreement, and cooperative results to be produced.
Since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation between China and Indonesia in 2010, TIO and RCO-BRIN have conducted a series of cooperative programs. More than 300 researchers from both sides have participated in these programs. With their joint efforts, they have published more than 30 high-level papers and four English monographs, making positive contributions to Sino-Indonesian marine scientific research level.
