7th APEC Blue Economy Forum concludes in Xiamen
The 7th APEC Blue Economy Forum was held in Xiamen, east China’s Fujian Province on December 13.
Hosted by APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center and Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources, the forum was attended by delegates from nine APEC economies including Chile, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Peru, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam, representatives from Cambodia and ocean-related units of coastal cities in China, as well as marine experts.
During the forum, representatives from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia introduced their own experience in blue economy development respectively, and shared the current status of APEC blue economy development and cooperative framework proposals.
A blue citizen action plan was proposed as well, aiming to raise the ocean literacy among the public.
Meanwhile, a series of topics centering on blue carbon ecosystem protection and management were also discussed at the event.
Since 2011, the APEC Blue Economy Forum has been held for seven sessions. It has become an important platform for promoting blue economy under the APEC framework and played an important role in the blue economy cooperation among APEC economies.
