Workshop on the Latest Developments of the Law of the Sea and Maritime Concerns Surrounding China held in Xiamen
The Workshop on the Latest Developments of the Law of the Sea and Maritime Concerns Surrounding China took place in Xiamen University from November 11 to 12.
Officials from China Institute for Marine Affairs (CIMA) and South China Sea Institute, Xiamen University delivered remarks at the opening ceremony.
With two main themes of “ Latest Developments of the Law of the Sea” and “Maritime Concerns Surrounding China”, the workshop was also attended by experts and scholars from renowned higher institutions and organizations including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Nankai University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, Ocean University of China, Ningbo University, Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Hainan University, Dalian Maritime University.
The two-day workshop featured a wide range of discussions, centering on topics of South China Sea issues, international law legislation progress, ocean plastic pollution control, legal issues of sea level and maritime concerns surrounding China.
The workshop, hosted by School of Law, Xiamen University and China Institute for Marine Affairs (CIMA), was aiming to deepen communication and cooperation in sea-related issues, as well as to show support to China’s ocean industry.
