Seminar on Marine Spatial Planning and Blue Economic Development for Developing Countries held in Xiamen
The Seminar on Marine Spatial Planning and Blue Economic Development for Developing Countries was held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province from 1 to 14 November, 2023.
As one of supporting activities of the 2023 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, the seminar attracted 30 governmental officials from nine developing countries, including Sri Lanka, Eritrea, South Africa, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Brazil, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada and Jamaica.
During the seminar, the participants not only heard lectures given by Chinese governmental officials and experts and scholars to understand China's philosophy of marine governance, but also conducted field visits to research institutions and enterprises in Xiamen, Jinjiang, and Pingtan to expand their thinking of developing blue economy.
In addition, they were also invited as guests to attend other forums and exhibitions held during the 2023 World Ocean Week in Xiamen.
The seminar was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and organized by Fujian Institute of Oceanography, aiming to deepen exchange and cooperation in marine spatial planning and blue economy between China and other developing countries.
