BRICS Sustainable Ocean Development Symposium held in Xiamen
The BRICS Sustainable Ocean Development Symposium was held in Xiamen, east China’s Fujian Province on November 10.
Held both online and offline, the symposium was attended by officials from the Ministry of Natural Resource, BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development, the Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21 and the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resource.
More than 40 experts and scholars from China, Brazil, Russia, India and Egypt also took part in the event.
An inauguration ceremony for the BRICS Marine Sustainable Development Research Center was held at the same time.
Focusing on the sustainable ocean development in BRICS countries under the new circumstances, the symposium featured discussions of coastal zone disaster prevention, island reservation and ecotourism, mangrove ecosystem protection, and the influence and evaluation of ocean acidification.
The symposium was hosted by the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and co-organized by Xiamen Marine International Cooperation Center, Ant Forest Foundation and Hohai University.
