7th Joint Committee Meeting of China-Thailand on Marine Cooperation held in Xiamen
The 7th Joint Committee Meeting of China-Thailand on Marine Cooperation and the 10th anniversary celebration of Thailand-China Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystem was held in Xiamen, east China's Fujian province on November 9.
The event was attended by over 20 representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources, PRC and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, as well as research institutions.
Xu Dachun, Vice-chairman of Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China and Mrs.Chayanan Pakdeejit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
During the meeting, the 2019-2023 Thailand-China Joint Laboratory Work Report was reviewed by both sides.
In addition, a total of five new projects were approved by the committee, including the application for oil spill model in ocean forecasting system, blue citizen and community capacity building, realization of ecological value in marine conservation areas, application of satellite remote sensing in seagrass bed monitoring and comparative study in carol reef.
The committee meeting was hosted by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Natural Resources,PRC and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, organized by First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and co-organized by Xiamen Marine International Cooperation Center.
