2023 Dream of Ocean International Contemporary Art Exhibition opens in Xiamen
The 2023 Dream of Ocean International Contemporary Art Exhibition opened at the Nordic Contemporary Art Center (NAC) in Aotou, Xiang'an district, Xiamen on November 5 and will last until December 28.
As one of the supporting events of the "ocean culture carnival" during the 2023 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, the exhibition is showcasing 55 pieces of art works from thirty-two artists from China, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, and the Philippines, bringing visitors an international feast of marine art.
The art forms include analog images, installations, performance art, sculptures, paintings, videos, and photographs, exploring the charm of the ocean from multiple perspectives.
In addition, this exhibition also includes outstanding works from the National University & Middle School Student Marine Culture Design Contest.
At the entrance of the exhibition, a bamboo shark model has attracted many visitors. The work was created by artists from China, Germany, and the Philippines. The shark model is seven meters long and made from 196 thin bamboo strips, according to Uwe Schall, a German artist and one of the main creators of the work.
During the exhibition period, a series of events including art and ocean sharing sessions, marine science art classes, creative workshops, and deep-sea music concerts will be held.
