The 2023 China Family Sailing Race Xiamen stop set sails
The China Family Sailing Race at the Xiamen Station began on Saturday. The two-day event features Hobie T1 and Hobie T2 categories with about 100 sailors representing 30 families taking part at the Xiamen Marina Water Sports Resort, which is hosting the event for the second time.
The race, which is part of the 2023 Xiamen International Ocean Week, was set to raise public awareness about marine biological protection and promote low-carbon travel.
The China Family Sailing Race at the Xiamen Station begins on Nov 4, 2023.
The China Family Sailing Race is in its sixth year. Over the last five years, more than 4,000 families have participated in the event, establishing sailing as a new weekend vacation choice for the public.
The China Family Sailing Race at the Xiamen Station begins on Nov 4, 2023.
"Participating families in Xiamen come from all over the country, and many of them are loyal fans of the China Family Sailing Race, following the race's footsteps to experience the charm of different cities," said Fu Danqing, vice-chairman of China Sailing and Windsurfing Association.
This year's Xiamen stop encouraged children from primary schools to carry out sailing extracurricular development activities to fully understand the sport of sailing. The organizing committee prepared Hobie sailing experience events for the students and supervised the race, focusing on the promotion and popularization of youth sailing, hoping more and younger people could feel the charm of sailing and enjoy the water sports.
