APEC Training Workshop on Capacity Building for Blue Citizen opens in Xiamen
The APEC Training Workshop on Capacity Building for Blue Citizen opened in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian province on September 13, aiming to promote the Blue Citizen Initiative and provide a platform for APEC economies to share their practice and experience on raising public ocean literacy.
A total of 68 trainees from 13 members of the APEC economies such as Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United States will participate in the workshop.
The training course will last for four days, and the trainees will be given lectures, on-site visits, case study, and scenario-based practice, discussion and demonstration to help them understand the Blue Citizen Initiative and learn from the APEC’s practice in raising public ocean literacy.
Under the guidance of the International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Natural Resources of PRC, APEC Secretariat, and APEC’s Oceans and Fisheries Working Group (OFWG), the workshop was co-organized by APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center, the Third Institute Of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development, and Xiamen Marine International Cooperation Center.
