2023 World Ocean Week in Xiamen to be held Nov 9-15
The 2023 World Ocean Week (WOW) in Xiamen is scheduled to be held in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian province from November 9 to 15.
Themed “New Engine of Blue Development for the Maritime Community with a Shared Future”, this year’s WOW will focus on the development of high-quality marine economy, marine ecological progress and marine culture communication.
Accordingly, the week-long WOW will consist of three parts: ocean forums, ocean exhibitions, and ocean carnival activities, with more than 40 online and offline activities.
In May and June 2023, two meetings hosted by the organizing committee of WOW were held in Beijing and Xiamen respectively. A total of 38 related organizations and institutes took part in the meetings, discussing the overall planning of this year’s event.
Last year, the 2022 WOW was successfully held in Xiamen from November 10 to 17, attracting the participation of guests from 66 countries and regions and 20 major international groups both online and offline.
Since 2005, the World Ocean Week has been held in the city of Xiamen for 17 times, and has attracted over 2 million visitors and participants, including around 1,000 government officials and experts from nearly 130 countries and regions and representatives from about 20 international organizations.
