Capacity Index of Sustainable Coastal Development for Countries Along the Maritime Silk Road (2022) officially released
To mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative, the China Oceanic Development Foundation and the Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans (Xiamen University) jointly released the Capacity Index of Sustainable Coastal Development for Countries Along the Maritime Silk Road (2022) on July 1st.
Based on the understanding of the coupled human-ocean systems, this report establishes a set of indicators and models to assess the capacity of countries along the Maritime Silk Road for sustainable coastal development.
In comparison with the 2021 edition, the report improved the indicator system and evaluation methods, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the capacity of different countries for sustainable coastal development. It will serve as a valuable reference for countries along the Maritime Silk Road to formulate policies for coastal protection and development.
Additionally, it will further enhance cooperation between China and countries along the Maritime Silk Road in terms of sustainable coastal development and management.
Through such policy collaboration, China will continue to promote the blue partnership and build a maritime community with a shared future, facilitating the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
