International Workshop on Marine and Atmospheric Climate Relevant Substances
On Nov 11, the International Workshop on Marine and Atmospheric Climate Relevant Substances was successfully held in Xiamen International Conference Center Hotel both online and offline.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the workshop was hosted by the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources/the Key Laboratory of Global Change and Marine-Atmospheric Chemistry (GCMAC) of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and co-organized by the international research program "SOLAS" (Surface Ocean Lower Atmosphere Study) and the Chinese Secretariat of the BRICS Working Group on Ocean and Polar Science and Technology.
Delegates from foreign research institutions including the University of Cape Town in South Africa, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, and Terengganu University in Malaysia, as well as domestic universities such as Ocean University of China, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou Campus), Shandong University, and Beijing Institute of Technology, attended the workshop.
Themed "Biogeochemical Cycling of Climate Change Relevant Substances", the workshop covers two main topics related to biogenic active gases and the transformation process of marine aerosol and precursors. With the aim to promote the collaborative research between the institutions of China and BRICS countries, the direction and content were initially established at the workshop. In addition, the workshop provided a platform for international organizations and key laboratories to fully display their advantages, which testified that the Third Institute of Oceanography has further improved its capabilities on organizing the atmospheric and ocean circulation research under the SOLAS framework.
