Workshop on Sustainable Oceans 2022 Held in Xiamen
Themed "Prospects of Marine Economic and Industrial Development towards 2035", the "Workshop on Sustainable Oceans 2022" was held with success in City Hotel Xiamen on November 12.
The workshop was co-sponsored by Xiamen University, China Oceanic Development Foundation, China Institute for Marine Affairs of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Fujian Provincial Bureau of Ocean and Fisheries, and co-organized by Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans (Xiamen University) and UN Ocean Decade Coastal-SOS Programme, and co-convened by the School of Marine Science and Technology of Tianjin University, South China Sea Institute of Xiamen University, Research Center for Coastal Bay Planning and Development (Dapeng) of Xiamen University and Research Center for Marine Civilization and Strategic Development of Xiamen University.
Xue Xiongzhi, Dean of Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans (Xiamen University) chaired the opening ceremony. Pan Xinchun, the vice president and secretary-general of China Oceanic Development Foundation, and Weng Xinping, the deputy director-general of Fujian Provincial Bureau of Ocean and Fisheries attended the workshop and delivered opening remarks. Xu Jingong, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Xiamen University, made a welcome speech for all attending guests.
Chinese and foreign well-known experts and scholars from more than 20 research institutions and government departments gathered together online and offline to brainstorm on promoting the development of marine economy, optimizing the industrial structure and scientifically utilizing marine resources.
With the joint efforts of all parties, the workshop has come to a successful conclusion! “Our school has successfully hosted the “Workshop on Sustainable Oceans" for three consecutive years and we will try to make it a brand marine forum in future”, the organizer of Xiamen University said.
