2022 International Island Forum held in Pingtan
The 2022 International Island Forum was held on Nov 10 in Pingtan, East China’s Fujian province.
The forum was jointly hosted by China Oceanic Development Foundation (CODF), the Island Research Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the PRC, and the Administrative Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone of Fujian Province.
Pan Xinchun, Vice President and Secretary-General of China Oceanic Development Foundation, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Pan said the forum was significant for island countries to exchange their experience of protection and development and discuss ways of dealing with global climate change, ocean acidification, microplastic pollution, and sea level rise.
He said the CODF was willing to cooperate with island countries in carrying out maritime silk road projects, jointly advancing the ecological and environmental protection, the development and utilization of marine resources, and the economic and social development of island countries.
