APEC Workshop on Technological Innovation for Marine Microorganism Resources held
Under the guidance of Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China and Xiamen Marine International Cooperation Center, the APEC Workshop on Technological Innovation for Marine Microorganism Resources was held both online and offline on November 11-12.
Hosted by Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, the workshop was attended by scholars and experts from National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia, University of Malaya, Malaysia, University of La Frontera, Chile, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, the United States, Third Institute of Oceanography, MNR, China, Xiamen University, Ocean University of China, Sun Yat-Sen University, BGI Research and Shenzhen University, as well as the representatives from APEC economies including Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Chile and Peru.
Three major topics were discussed at the workshop, centering on research and application of techniques in study of marine microorganisms diversity, marine microorganisms and enzyme in human public health, detection and control in marine harmful microorganisms.
Ten experts were invited to give keynote speeches, sharing their insights and achievements in related fields of marine microorganisms.
The workshop aims to build a platform under the APEC framework to deepen the communication and cooperation in advancing blue economy, and enhance the capability to manage, develop, and sustainably use marine sources.
