The 2021 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application opened on Nov 30 in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province.

Over 3,000 presidents, academician and experts from universities, research institutes and enterprises all over the world attended the conference.

The conference consists of 15 sub-forums focusing on ocean science and technology and engineering, future display technology and green intelligent equipment technology.

Three institutes – the Innovation Institute for Marine Remote Sensing Application, the Future Display Institute of Xiamen and the Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans (Xiamen University) – were unveiled at the opening ceremony of the conference.

At the Xiamen sub-forum, 32 cooperation agreements among universities and enterprises were signed to build research centers and jointly train talent.
