Belt, Road nations discuss marine issues in Xiamen
The 2021 Seminar on Marine Spatial Planning and Blue Economic Development for BRI Countries and Island Countries kicked off on Nov 11 in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, and will last until Nov 24. Attendees are able to take part both in person and online.

Participants attending the event include 27 researchers from member units of the China Marine Spatial Planning Institute, including the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources and National Ocean Technology Center, as well as 46 officials in departments related to marine spatial planning and blue economy management from 14 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the 14-day event, the seminar will invite experts to speak and arrange a number of meetings to share experiences on the development of the marine industry, marine management, marine space planning and international marine exchanges and cooperation, as well as to introduce successful cases of international cooperation in marine spatial planning.
In addition, officials attending the offline seminar will be invited to join the 2021 International Forum on Island Ecological Protection and 2021 China Marine Economy (International) Forum. They will also visit Xiamen Xiatanwei Mangrove Park, Wuyuan Bay and Gulangyu Island.
Officials attending online can also take part in an online tour titled "Xiamen urban construction and coastal zone development and protection".
