This year's WOW will be themed on "Human and Ocean – Working Together towards a New Decade of Blue Development", and will consist of three parts: ocean forums, ocean exhibitions and ocean carnival activities.

This year's international conferences and forums will be held both online and offline, and a total of 31 activities are planned.
The theme design of this year's activities focuses on hot topics such as high-quality development of the marine economy, carbon peak and neutrality goals, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center, and biological diversity.
International guests such as the special envoy on ocean affairs of the UN Secretary-General, representatives of ministerial-level officials from Pacific island countries and representatives of the World Economic Forum, as well as domestic guests such as ministerial and provincial leaders, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and representatives of well-known entrepreneurs will be invited to participate.
With the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources, event organizers have further enriched and improved the content for this year's WOW. In addition, it also absorbs sea-related activities under ministries and commissions such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Education, allowing them to better integrate their resources in WOW.
In a change from previous years, this year's epidemic prevention and control preparation has been strengthened. All activities require the main organizer to do pre-event evaluation work and get approval for the activity to go ahead, helping ensure the health and safety of attendees.
