The 8th APEC Blue Economy Workshop was held in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian province, from November 6 to 7.

The workshop brought together 10 APEC economies, including Australia, Brunei, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Peru, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as representatives from nine non-APEC economies.

In addition, the event was attended by over 130 participants, including representatives from international organizations such as the APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group, as well as experts and scholars in the related field from home and abroad.

Zheng Rui, Deputy Devision Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Jinhee Seo, Chair of the APEC Ocean and Fisheries Working Group and Cai Feng, Director-General of the APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center and Director-General of the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.

Du Jianguo, Deputy Director-General of the APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center and senior researcher at the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.

During the panel discussion, representatives from the APEC economies delivered ten keynote presentations, focusing on key blue economy topics such as sustainable development of marine biological resources, coastal resilience, ecological restoration, technological innovation, and SME participation.

The 8th APEC Blue Economy Workshop was organized by APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center and the Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources.
