APEC Workshop on Blue Citizen Communities for Ocean Literate Society held in Xiamen

The APEC Workshop on Blue Citizen Communities for Ocean Literate Society was held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from November 6 to 8.
The workshop brought together representatives from APEC economies, including Brunei, Chile, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam, as well as guests from Cambodia, Maldives, and related international organizations.
During the event, participants reviewed the 'APEC Blue Citizen Communities Indicator System Research Report', and shared innovative practices in developing blue citizen communities across APEC economies.
According to the report, a Blue Citizen Community is defined as a community that nurtures "blue citizens," advances residents' ocean literacy, improves community well-being, and promotes marine ecological protection alongside with sustainable development.
During a seminar themed "Blue Citizen Communities Indicator System and Partnerships" held on November 8, Tangshan Marine Ranch Co., Ltd., the sole corporate representative at the meeting, shared their experience on exploration from the blue granary to the blue citizen community.
The workshop was jointly organized by the APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center, the Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources and China Oceanic Development Foundation.
