The second stage: China-ASEAN Marine Big Data Comprehensive Information Service Platform
With the support of the China-ASEAN Maritime Cooperation Center, the China-ASEAN Marine Big Data Comprehensive Information Service Platform was established by Xiamen University, from October 2016 to October 2018. The facility was completed at the end of 2018, when it subsequently started trial operations and final tests.

1. Basic data collection
The platform's basic data mainly come from open-source data released by international governmental and non-governmental organizations, the statistics departments of all countries, as well as from the internet. The data is complemented by using featured industry databases and private data collected through scientific investigations. In this way, a comprehensive data collection system is formed.
2. Integration and storage of big data
Information processing tools featuring natural language and multimedia information intelligent processing, heterogeneous data association, mining and knowledge discoveries, as well as big data distributed memory and efficient indexes, have been used to deal with the large scale and complexity of source data.
3. Indicators for platform
Based on investigations of the most valuable and most widely used indicators in academic research -- as well as commercial analysis and policy evaluation in the various fields of the marine economy -- a marine economy indicator system has been created. It is composed of six comprehensive indicator databases, six marine industry indicator databases and two real-time indicator databases.
The databases both correlative and are independent. As the core of the whole big data platform, the indicators can get results that are comparable in many ways with different countries and are also precise.
4. Research and development system
With the help of the indicators, a China-ASEAN marine economic cooperation index has been developed and released periodically in the course of following the trends and updates of China-ASEAN marine economic cooperation, in an all-round and systematic way.
5. Customized services
Customized service are provided. Targeted data support, technical support and consulting reports are provided according to the research topic of the partner. In addition, comments by experts and reviews of significant and hot events are provided.
6. Cooperation mechanism
The platform seeks cooperation with more scientific research teams and statistic institutions, to promote the development and application of China-ASEAN marine economic data.
