Philippines consulate delegation visits XMICC
A delegation from the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen toured the Xiamen Marine International Cooperation Center or XMICC on Aug 19 – located in the port city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province.
The delegation was led by Elaine Mae V. Laruan-Hernandez, the acting head of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.
Lin Huaiyuan, chief engineer of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development presided over talks with Elaine Mae V. Laruan-Hernandez and Faith Bautisra, the political and economic officer at the consulate.
At the meeting, the PNLG secretariat explained its role, as well as its achievements and future plans in the Philippines. It also invited officials from the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen to participate in the upcoming 2021 World Ocean Week, or WOW, to be held in Xiamen on Nov 18-24.
Elaine Mae V. Laruan-Hernandez said that the PNLG had done much to promote integrated coastal management for its member cities and she would continue to lobby more cities in her country to join the organization in the future.
Lin Huaiyuan expressed the hope that the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen would give full play to its role as a bridge for exchanges and cooperation between China and the Philippines.
Lin urged it to boost sharing of information resources between the two sides and jointly promote the practical cooperation between PNLG member cities in the fields of integrated coastal zone management, ocean industrial technology and ocean cultural exchanges.
